#Challenge 2 | Troubleshooting with Shopify Success Guru Crystal
Posted by Amy Park on
I had a great experience meeting with a support Guru online.
Crystal let me know that posting is way more stable when you use the [<>] button (top right corner of the rich text editor) to make edits in HTML directly.
Knowing this, I devoted half my day yesterday to refreshing my familiarity with HTML. I have been consulting with a friend who has customized their Tumblr using HTML. I've got 5 tabs open to w3schools.com as I attempt to customize my new Litrx Tumblr . I spent some time on it last night and I am really proud of my work so far. Just have to populate the links and get the tabs looking good, get a lot of links back to my Shopify store etc. But I digress.
The second issue was with excerpts from blog posts. It wasn't keeping the formatting as defined in the post itself, which was a major issue for my Brainstorming post!
Crystal reached out to her network of Gurus and Experts, and by this morning I had an email letting me know the problem had been fixed!
As it happens, it's another finicky thing requiring that code be edited in the Supply menu. I have to say, I'm grateful that they went in and put that together for me because I'd be nervous to fiddly with code while my application is under review - I want to keep the site looking polished and presentable because I don't know when Shopify is popping in to take a look! For now I'll use the LitRx Tumblr as a low pressure coding practice sandbox.
I can't thank the Gurus enough for pointing me in the right direction.
Maybe it was a bit cheeky to ask that she offer her opinion on my site as application to be a Shopify Success Guru, but hey I'll accept being tagged "A Bit Cheeky" if it helps advance my career! No regrets at all, because she pointed out a few places in the settings that I had overlooked. For instance, I had no idea the little plus symbol next to SALES CHANNELS (above the frequently-used Online Store) in the left-hand sidebar could be clicked! It's funny, I dive in deep and get lost in the difficult convoluted world of code, and come out on top, but when it comes to a button that's literally right in my face... lol. That's where it helps to be a part of a team, to reduce blind spots. No one is perfect right off the bat.
Sales Channels, The Supply Closet, and eCommerce University
These are the 3 indispensable resources Crystal was able to steer me towards exploring, and the past few days since have led me to broaden my scope of experience with this shop tenfold.
Overall, 10 / 10 would ask a Shopify Success Guru again!!
